The boy lifted his face and sat upright, leaning his foot on the table. Only then did he realise that there was blood all over him. "I was being held at a laboratory." Muraki put his hands up in defence and mouthed 'innocent!' at Abel, just in case. "My mum handed me in when I was born, finding that I flickered invisible and she kept loosing me. She wanted a cure, but they just played with my genetics. They added Sparrow genes, in the hope it would boost my immune system and make the invisibility include clothing. It didn't work, the sparrow went invisible and forgot how to fly. I grew wings over a few years. They kept me in a cage..." He sniffed and wiped his nose on the jacket he was wearing. A small robot crawled onto his lap and bleeped symapathetically. "I was called XK110MF45." He recited in a robotic voice, the whole series memorised painfully.
Muraki heard the door and excuse himself, muttering and cursing under his breath. "This is not a bloomin' hospice....Hello" He said, swinging open the door to see a girl looking at her feet and tapping impatiently.
The experiment looked up at Abel, finally taking in his surroundings. "I don't want to dwell on that, I'm free now, even their stupid modified dogs couldn't catch me." He announced with a hint of pride in his voice. "I'm free as a bird, if you will excuse the expression. I don't have anywhere to stay though..." He made an adorable face, with watery eyes and a turned down mouth. His hair had blonde tips, hanging in front of large brown eyes. His wings rippled and the matching brown and blonde feathers shuffled together, a few falling away. The robot beeped longingly in what sounded more like cooing.

Abel watched the boy talk, slowly closing his eyes in recognition of what the child had been through, and because the bloodstains in the air where really starting to get on his nerves. He herd lab and turned to scowl at muraki, who pleaded Innocent this time. however able humphed indignantly. "I understand what you've been through..." Abel smiled, not wanting to go into too much detail on the matter, his memory of events being blurry and painfully to recall, buried in the back of his mind where they should stay. "muraki, Don't talk like that, Anyone can help people if they just tried to, don't be so negative" he lectured quickly, growing quickly tired of that attitude in people. in all honesty he couldn't blame the perfectionist for his attitude, after all, this kind of thing ruined his perfectly organized little world. Looking bat at the child he only looked at the experiments tiny face looking at him so sweetly and he was completely taken in by it. He made a whining noise throwing a hug at the boy before turning his own version of the puppy face on Muraki. "He can say with us right, you have plenty of room, look at him he needs out help" he squeaked out in an almost hysterical upset voice, tears very close to poring from his eyes. He looked at the scientist with his cutest look, holding the child in a fatherly hug.

Muraki leant on the doorway, holding one finger up to the girl politely. He slowly walked away until he was standing in front of Abel and the boy. "Fine, but if you crush one more of my bugs, then you're in big trouble boy." He waved one finger at him in caution. He looked up towards the girl. "Come on in, the draft is chilling me." He said to her. The boy looked up from Abel's ovesized chest and gazed at Muraki with teary admiration. "What about my name?" He said sweetly, with a slight sorrow dampening his words. Muraki's eyes softened as he looked at him and then nodded at Abel. "Abel can name you, since he wants a new pet so badly anyway. Then go get some cake, and can you please help him have a shower?" He suddenly had a brainwave, that he was inviting a stranger into a house with a Priest a scientist and a bloody bird boy. "Aa!" He shouted, running towards the door and blocking the view of the people behind him. "On second thoughts, what brings you here? What's your name?" He said hurriedly, throwing looks over his shoulder to Abel to get the boy out of the way and stop groping him.
The boy looked up at Abel feeling a slight dislike of the clingy bumbling man. He seemed fake and hiding a darker side, he was too white and fluffy to be true. Still, he put on a cute face and acted like he needed help. Bones mend and cuts heal without a priest and doctor around to fuss. He tried to pull away only to realise that the mans grip was tighter than expected.

"Oh thank you Muraki, you’re a saint" Abel gushed happily, letting the boy go for a moment and running up to the scientist, grabbing the others head between his hands quickly and kissing his forehead. Before Muraki could so much as reply Abel had already gone back over to the boy, ruffled his hair gently and skipped of to the kitchen. “Do you like chocolate? Well of course who doesn’t really like chocolate to be fair, it’s a wonderful thing…” Abel called back from the kitchen, taking the cake out of the fridge and setting on the side. His eyes drifted over too his disserted piece on the table and smiled, cutting a generous helping from the rest of the cake and setting that on a plate. “Name you?....Well I suppose I should name you after someone from the bible, but I cant remember anyone having wings apart from perhaps Gabriel…and that’s not a good name for a boy like yourself. Mm, what’s a nice modern name…how about Toby? May I call you that?” he asked, coming back from the kitchen with the large slice of cake. He set that one down on the table and took the smaller slice Muraki had given him and took it to the boy. “you must be hungry, here” he said softly handing over the cake and kneeling by the boys ankle. “You enjoy that And I’ll clean you up a bit” he smiled, taking the angle between his large gloved hands with surprising gentleness. Reaching for the first aid kid and beginning to dress some of the minor wounds. “I’ll take you to hospital later today, unless Muraki says otherwise...” he said to the boy, disliking silence. “My, you are such a small child, who could do such a thing” he muttered, shaking his head gently as he cleaned the boys cuts and pressed fresh dressing to them softly.

Sighing deeply, Sabaku rooted her feet to the ground outside. She wasn't especially good at it, but she concentrating on her hearing, trying to confirm that this was the home of ... (she looked down at the card) Daijo, Muraki. She smiled at the oddity of the name, but she then realised hers was probably weirder. She rapped on the door again and soon the door swung open to reveal a silver-haired, bright eyed man, who looked quite put-off by her coming here. She stood up straight, hesitantly bowed and spoke. "Is this the residence of Mr Daijo?" She asked sternly. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see another figure, but it was faint and daren't look carefull to get a good look. She'd heard things about this Muraki, though she wasn't scared, she didn't want to stop him from helping her.

Muraki wriggled free of the forehead-kissing incident and tried to turn his attention back to the girl at the door. Out of habit he admired her heart with his hidden eye and almost gasped at when she was due to die. Of course this could be changed by someone stepping in or out of destiny, but it was odd it was fixed so early. He tutted to himself and shook imself to his senses. "Oh, Um. Yes. I'm him...Mr Daijo. Muraki." He threw a look over his shoulder to see what the others were doing.
The boy looked up, almost answering to the name without realising it. "Toby, I like it." He looked at the cake and grabbed it, hobbling to the bathroom and leaving bloody hand marks all over the walls. "Dogs, they are modified to have no stamina limits, and they never cut their claws. Vicious beasts. I had to run to escape, I didn't know I could fly until I fell. There is a waterfall by the lab. I thought I'd rather die than stay their any longer, but I flew...and I lived." He fell into the bath, clothes and all, closing his eyes and resting his broken foot on the side of the bath. The blood stains were scattered all over the living room, splats and drips, handprints and footprints. Luckily the many bugs scurried to the spots and began spraying, scrubbing, hoovering and polishing the walls floos and appliances back to their usual sheen. The crumb bug which was crushed beelped painfully and the fix-bug crawled over to help. Clinking and tutting, they fixed each other within moments and were both off again. The crumb bug which had taken a shine to Toby whizzed after him, darting between his feet and bleeping excitedly. Once they were out of view, Muraki finally took his hand out of the way and waved to let the girl in. "Come in, take a seat." He walked over and inspected the couch which the arm-bug was wiping with bleach. the odd almost creature-like robot nodded at him and walked off on it's two hands.

Abel smiled "Toby it is then....Hey..where are you going?!" he asked, standing and turning to follow the boy. Seeing him go to the bathroom Abel Blushed. stopping outside the door to listen. "How unusual..." he said softly. "Sounds like it was a very lucky escape indeed" The priest smiled, still pink in the cheeks. "Err, do you...need any help?" he asked, sincerely hoping the answer was no as he would much rather stay outside the bathroom, with that cake that was oh so temptingly waiting for him on the table. He saw Muraki was inviting someone in and tried to stay by the bathroom but peep around the corner to see who it was at the same time. "Muraki?" he asked with a hint of concern, knowing half the people around this city where not to be trusted.

((Erm, why's she gonna die soon?)) Smiling gratefully, she stepped in, her head high as to make a good impression - someone who wasn't afraid or worried so she could get through this without breaking down. Well, if that was to come across her mind at all. She saw a handsome young boy with a curious expression on his face. But she pulled her attention away from him, even when he walked on his hands. "It's a pleasure to meet you sir, my name is Sabaku May," she said, sitting down in a composed position and taking off her sash and scabbard to place on her lap. "I've come for guidance and knowledge." Despite her womanly and mature tone of voice she displayed, she wasn't confident with getting what she came for. By the sound of it, there were plenty other things this man would be dealing with and she felt disrespectful intruding on his work. But she'd come so far. She scratched her arm and turned her head to the floor, looking at Muraki's fringe, swearing she could see a shiny light behind that bunch of white-silver hair. "I know you're a genius doctor, and I'm... gifted," she confessed, increasingly, every second, regretting her confession "I am a sand manipulator as well as a heat energy converter. However, I am ignorant. I... want to know how this... this is very overwhelming, sir." She forced herself to stay calm; she clutched her scabbard to transfer all of her stress into.

Abel heard the girl enter and was unnerved by her tone. He glanced back at the bathroom but stepped away, hoping the boy would be alright alone for a little while. Stepping through to the living room he peered at the girl through his glasses, looming in the door frame like some giant. “ How did you find out about us?” wait…us? Since whne where they an /us/ , god he was treating Muraki and him like a couple. He turned scarlet inside but just managed to keep his composure on the outside. He leant on the door frame, his hand resting on his hip out of habit, ready to swiftly grab his weapon if the need became apparent.

Muraki twiddled his thumbs, pulling his hair out of the way of his eye, feeling stabbing pains as it swiveled. He tried to focus it on her, but out of habit he watched boy, making sure the bones in his foot wouldn't knock and further the damage. "Umm...Toby? Are you going to be alright?" He asked, rising a little off his seat to lean towards the reply. A small voice from the bathroom warbled a "Yes" and bubbling noises followed. Muraki shook the distraction away and looked at the girl. Sand and heat? Lethal mixture. "I'm not sure I can tell you why you have them in a sense. But I can help you understand how they work and how to use them. Most people come across theirs by freak accidents, or experiments...gone wrong." His eye swung and shook to face Abel when he spoke. He nodded at the question, strangely not questioning the use of the word "Us."

With acknowledgement and respect, Sabaku nodded to the words of the Doctor, thinking through. She'd not come across many gifted ones and it felt safe and comforting to talk about it. "I've already mastered the basics in my flame-sword," she explained "and I can change into sand and collect sand around me..." she sighed with embarrassment "I sound like a supernatural hero on the television," she said, suddenly feeling like a pathetic loser, entering a guy's house where she was no familiar and talking like an old man. "I know you won't approve, but let me demonstrate." She stood up and immediately, her entire body turned a sandy brown and she fell on a pile on the floor. The sand slithered around the floor and then jumped over the sofa like a shooting star. She then morphed so that the sand was much more tightly packed and created a ball. She leapt up and bounced off the wall nearest to where the man named Abel, hoping to startle him and get a glimpse of the strange boy in the bathroom and landed on the floor, slowly morphing back into her normal shape. She looked at Muraki, fully dressed and waiting for a response. "By the way, this outfit is like a special type of elastic, so it formed around me when I do..." although it would be easier if I was naked, she added to herself.

Muraki watched as her body fell apart. First her insides seemed to cave in, then her face became hollow and she collapsed into the pile. Even with his eye it seemed like the sand had a life of it's own. When she rebuilt herself, each peice of sand became almost a cell of her body. He played it back in slow motion, watching as the sand jumped and clung to each other, pulsating like the organs yet looking like lumps of sand before finally changing to normal. The hoover bugs went wild, chasing the ball and trying to hoover her up. Panicky Muraki shouted "Off!" and they slumped into a pile, the lights flickering out. "That's really impressive ...Sabaku, is it? You might want to save the flame tricks for another time...But why did you come for my help?" He asked, inquisitively.
The bathroom door opened and Toby hopped out, completely naked, dripping wet. "Where are the tow...el..s...Hi." He blushed voilently and went invisible, becoming a wet blur hovering in the air. "Who's she?" He hissed at Abel, walking about and checking cuboards for the towels.

Clapping her hands together, she saluted her own, original salute. After a few times of doing it, she'd learnt to not be embarrassed by it. "Doctor Muraki, you were my last hope in the city," she began "I've heard faint words of unique people that have ventured to this city in search of salvation, and I knew I'd need to find someone. The first person I found in the yellow pages was a doctor with a curious name..." she began to be quiet, but somehow managed to keep her womanly voice "and I did some research... and found you..." Her cheeks were rosy as she looked up into the gaze of Muraki's artificial eye. "If you could, possibly, investigate me?" I hope he's not a pervert, she thought. Nearby, she could faintly see that boy exit the bathroom with nothing but a towel on. She caught his gaze and the pair of them blushed, but Sabaku wore a blank scowl to mask the embarrassment.

Abel flinched from the sand thing, about to pull his pistol from his holster before his rationality took over from his instincts. He blinked at her blankly for a while,, but smiled, just another lost soul needing some place to go. Something he understood all too well. He turned around as the door opened “I do-Oh dear Lord!” he squeaked, going scarlet and panting his hands over his eyes, spinning so his back was to wards the naked but hopefully now invisible boy. “There’re in the cupboard on the right Toby” he said quickly “and I don’t know who she is yet, she’s come looking for help” he explained. ”are you decent yet?” he whined from behind his hands.

"You're reaction is very....um...dramatic, Abel." He walked over the cuboard, leaving wet footprints as he went. "If you call being invisible decent then Yes, I'm extremely decent. Mr daijo, please can you warn me when you bring someone into the house." He grabbed the towel but stayed invisible, so the towel began to run away with floating waer drips. He dropped the towel and continued to walk about. "Hey, Check this out." His mouth became visible, along with his eyes. "I'm the Cheshire cat!" He smiled and rolled his eyes, making various faces.
Muraki layghed half-heartedly, both his eyes rolling. "e..e..examine..you?" Muraki stuttered, blushing and becoming increasingly uncomfortable. "Why, are you having problems? Surely this isn't affecting your health. Your inner organs are working fine." His eye began to shift through the layers of organs, slowly building her back up. Suddenly he found the last layer to be her skin and gasped, embaressed at what he left himself see. "Sorry!" He jumped up and walked around, agitated. He bumped into the floating mouth and eyes and Toby squeaked slightly. "On!" He told the bugs, which began to turn themselves on, whirring and bleeping energetically after their nap. He ran the cold tap and got himself a drink nervously. "Abel, you might want to ring the Church and say sorry you are late, or missing. Make sure they don't worry."
