Name: Sebastian Reid
Age: 18
Gender: male
Orientation: straight, although he hasn't had time for girls lately
Alliance: Middle-dweller
Appearance: He was always a short, skinny kid - until he reached the age of sixteen. Then he shot up like a bean sprout, as his mother still likes to say. He now stands just over six feet tall, but this makes him look awkwardly gangly and he still weighs less than most girls. Religious use of a bench press machine hasn't done much for his physique, but he refuses to give it up.
Sebastian is naturally green-eyed and olive-skinned, but with his job he doesn't get much sunlight, or much sleep. Most of the time he looks pretty haggard, as though he hasn't had his morning espresso yet. Hair is black, not too long and kept in a loose, shaggy style. He also wears prescription reading and computer-viewing glasses.
You might notice that he always wears fingerless gloves. This is so that he won't accidentally kill himself with his power.
Personality: Sebastian is highly intelligent; also arrogant. He can get very talkative if you let him, especially about things like computers and engineering. He makes his living from computers, which is just as well because he can spend all day talking about them to people who are actually interested.
When it comes to morals he believes that the end justifies the means, so long as he isn't the victim.
Powers: He can use the palms of his hands to produce a controlled electric current. Each palm acts as each end of the circuit. This way he can do everything from powering appliances to boiling water to electrocuting people. He can also conduct a current without harming himself, as long as it travels through his hands. So if he got struck by lightning, he'd have to catch the lightning with one hand and touch an earthed object with the other, otherwise he'd be as dead as anyone else.
Weaknesses: If he touches the palms of his hands together, he will short-circuit himself. This was merely painful when he was young, but now that he is older and stronger it has become more deadly. He has taken to wearing fingerless gloves to prevent accidents.
Magnets 'bend' his electric currents, making them stronger or weaker - this is bad either way. Contrary to popular belief, he doesn't have any problems with water.
History: Sebastian's gift appeared when he was still very young - he electrocuting himself whenever he clapped his hands. Fortunately his parents were bright people who realised what was going on and made him wear mittens until he learned to keep his hands apart.
Most of his childhood was spent in limbo - he could either get beaten up by bullies, or electrocute them and reveal himself as a freak. He changed schools often until he and his parents learned of a boarding school for people who were gifted like he was. This is where he spent most of his teenage years.
After graduating, Sebastian found himself unable to attend university - they didn't recognise qualifications from the gifted high school and there wasn't enough money left to go to a university away from home. He had to stay in Souzetsu, his home city, and repeat his senior year by correspondence with a public school. On top of this, he also took a full-time job at an office as a computer technician (he refused to live at home with his parents, so he had to pay for his own accommodation aka windowless industrial-zone shoebox). The job mostly involved reading everyone's emails and staying up until all hours of the night fixing computers: the company he worked for preferred to buy second-hand computers that were incredibly crap.
((That's pretty much the life story. I'm too tired to finish it off nicely *yawn* maybe later.))
